The Sarto Center was formed in 1964 by a group of dedicated Christians who saw the need for a facility in the area that would provide a place for non-denominational Christians to hold retreats, meetings, study groups and general Christian formation efforts. This group, The Sarto Foundation, Inc. named the facility in honor of their patron saint, Pius X. His family name is Sarto.

The present board took over management of the facility in 1980 and is comprised of volunteers who attempt to continue the legacy of its visionary founders. The Center has been used over the years for meetings, overnight and weekend retreats, training and study groups and various like activities by such as Cursillo, Tres Dias, Kairos Prison Ministry, AA groups, Ecumenical and Youth Organizations, Baptist Missions and a variety of Christian church, parish and independent groups throughout the greater Manchester and New England area.

 MISSION
